The Atlanta Braves have had a rough 2021 season dealing with a number of challenges, some unlucky and some self-inflicted. But the worst one came on Saturday afternoon when Ronald Acuña Jr. went down with an injury while attempting to make a leaping catch in the outfield.
Acuña would later be diagnosed with a torn right ACL and instead of going to MLB's All-Star Game he'll be headed to an operating room to begin his repair and recovery.
Injury Expert Will Carroll joined John and Hugh on Monday morning and spoke about the injury and timeline for Acuña to return.
"You worry with a meniscus injury there could be a loss of cushioning, sometimes problems later in a career," says Carroll. "But in the early stages for a guy that is young and strong and has great secondary stabilizers he's going to have a much better shot coming back from this."
Acuña spoke about the injury (through a translator) and gave some hope that he'll be back and better than ever next season.
