Atlanta has a pair of stars whose future in this city is up-in-the-air, and there are mixed feelings about one of them and almost a unanimous mindset on the other.
Whether the Hawks should bring back John Collins is a heated debate, but nearly everyone feels the Braves should re-sign Freddie Freeman to a new deal.
While it's clear when asked which player fans would prefer to bring back, it's a much more distorted picture when asked which guy is more important to their team's chances of winning.
Fan-emotions aside, and considering the differences each athlete can have on the impact of games in their respective sports, is Freddie Freeman more valuable to the Braves on-the-field than John Collins is to the Hawks on-the-court?
While according to the fan vote Freeman is a much more significant piece, Atlanta Hawks Analyst Jason Longshore tells John and Hugh that Collins plays a much more key role in-game.
"Framing it as a championship run changes my answer, it's John Collins" says Longshore. "The Hawks are closer and the potential replacements for John Collins, there isn't anybody out there that can give them what Collins can give them. If Collins leaves the Hawks are further away from a championship and you want to keep Freeman, he's critical to the Braves, but are the Braves as close to a championship as the Hawks, I don't think so."
