Atlanta Braves FOX Sports South Analyst Paul Byrd joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the debut of Cole Hamels, his take on Ian Anderson and Kyle Wright, plus whether Mike Fotlynewicz is the key to a deep run in the postseason for the Braves?
Byrd talked about the possible return of Folty and how it could help the Braves make a deep run in October?
“He has the potential to be very, very good," said Byrd. "So when I hear his velocity is back up, and then I get eye witness and he’s gained some weight, he feels good, yeah I think there’s a legitimate chance we will see him.
“I think there’s a chance he could contribute. Here’s why he could contribute: I think the Braves are going to make the playoffs, and if they do they’re not going to have any off days in the playoffs and you’re going to need somebody to get the ball to that dynamic bullpen. And I think Folty has a chance to be one of those guys.
“You have to be prepared for the worst but hope for the best. You would like to have a guy like a Mike Foltynewicz who has top of the rotation stuff comeback hungry, angry, ready to show everybody that he is a great Major League pitcher and that we may need that guy for the playoffs.”
