Game 1 of the National League Divisional Series between the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals gets underway 5:02 p.m. at Suntrust Park.
Former Braves pitcher and Hall of Famer John Smoltz joined Andy and Randy and talked about how essential winning Game 1 is for the Braves.
"Game 1 in the best of five is probably as important as it gets," Smoltz said. "The mental games that you have to play in the best of five just get a little bit scarrier if you drop Game 1."
"I always felt that in the best of five, Game 1 was the absolute tone setter that you had to win."
Dallas Keuchel will be on the mound for the Braves in this crucial opening game. Smoltz said he only got a few Game 1 starts but said it's the best place to be in as a pitcher.
"I didn't get a chance to pitch a ton of Game 1's in my career but when I was able to, that was probably the best place to be is pitching Game 1 in the best of five series."
