The 2021 season has not gotten off to the start that Braves fans were hoping for, whether it's injuries or an offensive lack of production, fans have been concerned from the season opening sweep at the hands of the Phillies, and they remain concerned now.
While it's a troubling first 23 games to the season, it could have been much worse. Concern from Braves fans would be panic if the rest of the NL East hasn't played at a similar level that Atlanta has.
92.9 The Game Atlanta Braves Insider Joe Patrick discusses the NL East and how nobody is taking control of the division and how that is playing to the benefit of the Braves.
"Baseball is a funny game like that. I was looking at the standings and it's wild the Braves could end tonight in first place in the NL East despite their 2-6 hitters are all hitting .220 or below," details Patrick. "I think that keeps the optimism that could be had for Braves fans considering how poorly this team has played in some areas."
"The fact that you're right in the thick of things, thankful the division has been competitive overall that you haven't been punished for the poor play so far."
