Ronald Acuña Jr. is struggling in a way Braves fans have not seen in quite some time. The reigning MVP has not just failed to produce at the plate but has also made mistakes on the base paths and in the outfield. Manager Brian Snitker recently gave him a blow last week before a scheduled day off so he could take a few deep breaths and try again.
Entering play on Monday, Acuña Jr. is batting just .242 with three home runs and 11 RBIs. Those stats are a far cry from where he usually finds himself. Those stats are even more glaring now that he is making costly errors in other parts of the game.
Odds and the pure length of a baseball season say Acuña Jr. will eventually finds himself where he needs to be. But the length of his struggles are beginning to become alarming as the team will play its 43 & 44th games on Monday as part of a double-header vs the Padres
