Ronald Acuña Jr. showed up to Spring Training in shape and ready to go, and reportedly he was fitter and slimmer than in years past.

Many people feel that Acuña trimming down will make him even more dangerous on the basepaths and give him even more range in the outfield.

While seemingly everyone is focusing on the positives of Acuña's weight loss, there could be a downside as well. Some have wondered if the lower number on the scale could make him more injury-prone.

Injury expert Will Carroll takes a look at some of the thinking that being too fit could cause additional injury risk and argues why it doesn't.

"What you worry about is does he change anything, make him more or less athletic. There's a level you don't want to go, but he just wants to move a little better," explains Carroll. "It's tough to read into the physical changes because physical demands are so tough, predicting injuries are impossible. Acuña is a guy that is super athletic so I think this is going to help him more than anything."
