Walt Weiss key to Braves start to season
The Atlanta Braves are 62 games into the 2026 MLB season and have the best record in baseball and the biggest division lead among all division leaders as they sit nine games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies, an unexpected start to the season as the Braves dealt with injuries to several key players before the season started and the suspension of Jurickson Profar.
“The most important of this, and you may disagree, has been the hiring of Walt Weiss,” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes said as he explained to cohost, Chris Thomas, why he believes the decision to make Weiss Brian Snitker’s successor.
“There were folks that said let’s go outside the organization, let’s change things up,” Dukes continued as he noted there was a belief the Braves should have considered making a hire of some one with no ties to the club. “It has been the biggest decision and the reason is because of the way Walt Weiss is handling his team,” Dukes said.Walt Weiss proven to be the right hire by Braves
