Audacy.com MLB insider Tony Gwynn Jr. joined Dukes & Bell live in studio to help preview the Padres-Braves series starting Friday and why Max Fried is a legitimate CY Young candidate this year.
When asked if Max Fried is the Braves best pitcher right now.

“You could argue Max Fried was your best guy last year, it’s not a surprise to me that he’s where he’s at, he’s impressive,” Gwynn Jr. said. “We saw him backend of last year as the Braves started to roll there and he came into San Diego and pitched a heck of a game.”
Gwynn Jr. talked about he won’t be surprised if Fried is in CY Young conversation at end of season.
“There’s not a lot you can do, because it’s not like he throws soft, he’s got some velocity too. It’s not a surprise, he’s the real deal, I wouldn’t be surprised at all at the end of the season he’s in that conversation.”
