Will Braves schedule allow them to keep pace with Mets in NL East?

92.9 The Game Braves insider Grant McAuley joined Dukes & Bell for his normal appearance to talk some Braves with the guys. McAuley talked about the team facing a tough stretch in the schedule and can they keep pace with the Mets.

McAuley talked about this stretch in the Braves schedule.

“There’s so many different pieces to this puzzle, the one we just talked about for the last month has been ok you’re facing a bunch of losing teams so go ahead and continue their losing and start winning some games, get your season on track,” McAuley said. “And now the test is how will you matchup against clubs that are eyeing a playoff spot, we know the Giants are, we know the Los Angeles Dodgers are clearly, they do it every single year.”

Grant told the guys that the Phillies could play a pivotal role in the division race even if they aren’t in position to win the NL East.

“It’s hard for me to look past the Phillies at the moment because it seemed like a club that was kinda floundering and might have just another mediocre kinda lost season for them but when they fired Joe Girardi stuff has kinda turned around there. Are they built to win in the same way I feel like the Braves roster is constructed, the Mets roster is constructed, not necessarily.
But I do think that they could be a major pain for one of these clubs in terms of being a tough head to head matchup, so they may not win the division but they be able to stop someone else form doing it. So all these head to head battles that are ahead for the Braves with the Phillies and a whole bunch of them in the second half with the Mets are gonna be critical, you’re gonna have to match up against these clubs and you’re gonna have to start winning series and fortunately that’s really what the Braves concentrate on.”
