Last week, the Atlanta Braves stole headlines with Ronald Acuña Jr. winning the MVP and the announcement of the 2025 All-Star Game being hosted at Truist Park. Add in a trade that moved Kyle Wright and Nick Anderson to the Royals for Jackson Kowar and $100K, and a deal that sent Soroka, Lopez, Shuster, Shewmake, and Riley Gowens to the White Sox for Aaron Bummer. While the moves did not see the Braves receive a big name in return, their 40-man roster is now down to 30, rising intrigue as to what, if anything, could Atlanta be preparing themselves to do.

“I wouldn’t say shockwaves over the weekend or over the last few days about some of the moves, but certainly some things brewing in Braves’ country,” Steak Shapiro said on Monday as he and Drew Butler reacted to the recent trades made by Atlanta. As he weighed in on the discussion, Butler likened what Alex Anthopoulos is doing with the roster shake up to a game of chess.

“You would have to believe and you would have to think that based on what Alex Anthopoulos has done over the past couple of years, that he knows what he’s doing and he’s posturing to make a big splash this offseason for the Braves,” Butler said.
