Around the yard with 92.9 the Game Atlanta Braves insider Grant McAuley as he talked about Ozzie Albies making his much anticipated return tonight and with Ozzie back what will Vaughn Grissom’s role be moving forward on the team?
When asked about how Snitker is going to use Grissom moving forward.
“It’s gonna be an interesting series of decisions on a pretty regular basis, but the biggest piece of this was getting Ozzie Albies back and the Braves see him as their everyday second baseman. That has not changed despite the very good work of Vaughn Grissom in the interim,” McAuley said. “So I asked Snit considering how much you have gotten from Vaughn in the last six weeks what do you do with him now? And he said ‘well we’re gonna look at some matchups and some day to day things to give us some opportunities to utilize him, we’re gonna work him out in the outfield, we’re gonna see throughout the game if there’s a chance where he matches up with a reliever in a pinch hit appearance.’ But really right now he said the number one thing that they’re concentrating on is the best nine guys in this lineup to help them win a game, so it’s beyond the individual is what Snitk said.”
McAuley talked about what Grissom brings to the team.
“Clearly we know what Vaughn Grissom can do, we know what he’s meant to the team and the spark that he provided in August but we also know how important it is to get Ozzie Albies back in this mix. So the Braves just have more depth and more good players to kind of figure out how to put together this puzzle over the final nineteen games.”
