The Atlanta Braves magic number is down to one after a 7-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. They'll have the opportunity to clinch their fourth consecutive NL East division title with a win tonight at Truist Park.
The Braves had to overcome a lot of adversity this season including being without star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. since the All-Star break and ace pitcher Mike Soroka.
92.9 The Game reporter Joe Patrick joined the Midday Show to answer this question: Would this be the most meaningful division title under manager Brian Snitker?
"It's definitely the most impressive of the four (titles under Snitker) just considering all the circumstances that this team has been facing,"Patrick told Randy and Mike.
Acuña has been out since the game before the All-Star break and yet the Braves have gone 41-27 without him. They were a game under .500 at that point of the season. What's more is that 26 of those 41 wins were won by three runs or more.
"I think it just speaks to an overall club that is efficient and highly, highly competent. That's how dynasties happen. That's how these continuous division wins happen."
