As the Falcons prepare to welcome the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, head coach Raheem Morris made it clear on Wednesday their pass rush is still not where it should be and they are not getting the production out of Matthew Judon, something Morris told Dukes and Bell on Wednesday, the edge rusher understands he is not playing to “his standard”, however is “doing some really nice things,” to help the Falcons.
On Thursday, Steak Shapiro shared his thoughts on the comments from Morris and while he understands Judon may be contributing to some of the success the Falcons are having on defense, the job he was bought in to do is not happening.
“He’s here to sack quarterbacks, I don’t care about anything else,” Shapiro said as he reacted to the Morris statement, adding he believes the production from Judon has to pick up if the Falcons are going to have an opportunity to be an NFC title contender.
“He’s the only best bet that we have because Max Crosby is not walking through that door,” the midday host said, noting there is little likelihood of Atlanta acquiring “a top, top, defensive lineman to rush the quarterback,”.
The Falcons will head into Sunday’s game last in sack totals this season with six thus far however, the Cowboys may be without stating right guard, Zack Martin (shoulder), who is listed as questionable, so this could be an opening for the Falcons may be able to take advantage of and possibly get to Dak Prescott.
