Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith joined Dukes & Bell and talked about the team’s current coaching search, and what it was like for him when he was interviewing with the team in 2008 at a similar time for the organization.
Coach Smith talked about the hiring process when he joined the Falcons as head coach in 2008.
“I know they are in the process of going through hiring both a general manager and a head coach," said Smith. "I experienced that when I was hired because they were also hiring Thomas Dimitroff as well. When I was going through the process we had an interview before there was a general manager hired. After I had that first interview they hired Thomas and then Thomas and I had an opportunity to have a second interview, and I’m sure that that’s probably the same type of sequencing it’s probably going to go.
“I’m sure that everybody in the Falcons organization is working hard to get the best guy in there that they think’s going to give them an opportunity to be very successful.”
