Dallas Cowboys insider Mike Fisher joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the Cowboys being banged up after only one week, how fans are feeling about Mike McCarthy after one game, and if the Falcons are catching the Cowboys at the right time?
Fisher talked about the mounting Cowboys injuries.
“The biggest issue today is injury related. We went out to practice and saw Aldon Smith isn’t at practice, but it turns out he just went to the dentist, so he’s OK,” Fisher said. “But Amari Cooper now has a foot issue that caused him to be limited. And with Amari Cooper here in the last year plus, and again I’m not dissing him, he’s a pro football player and he shows up every Sunday, but every week he’s got an injury, every week he’s got something. Last week it was a hamstring and now it’s a foot.”
Fisher continued with the injury list.
“The stunner of all is Tyron Smith, the great left tackle, future Hall of Famer," Fisher said. "He did not practice today because of a neck. Maybe it goes away but I think the Cowboys are a little worried here. And if you look at what they have now at tackle, because the right tackle La’el Collins is unavailable for a few more weeks.
"Tyron Smith now has the neck issue, hopefully he’ll play. The swing tackle Cam Erving is unavailable, and he’s hurt for a few weeks, so the starter at right tackle the other night against the Rams in that loss was an undrafted rookie free agent from Texas Tech named Terrence Steele. They would have to stick another kid in a worst case scenario Brandon Knight at left tackle, so they’ve got problems.”
