Earlier today on The Morning Shift, Mike Johnson, Ali Mac, and Beau Morgan explained why they think Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. must hit the ground running in his season debut against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.

“Don’t take first team reps for three weeks, tell us three days isn’t enough, then tell us a week and a half is not enough, then tell us two and a half, three weeks is not enough. We’ve given you all the grace dude, at least on this show the way we talk about it. Hey you gotta make the best decision for you. Do I hate it? Yeah, but I understand you’re the CEO of your own cooperation and that is your body right now, but that doesn’t mean I’m that going to give you grace if you come back and you’re not on the same page as the offense and you can’t make some of throws, and can’t make some of the reads. My god you’ve had more buildup to this game than anybody in the NFL, right, for a short Thursday night game, so it better be pretty crisp when we roll it out there in PrimeTime”. Archer said

There’s nothing wrong with Michael Penix Jr. taking as much time as he needed to get to 100%. However, the harsh truth is he’s definitely shortened his own leash by not playing the first two weeks of the season, so while there will be some grace given to Penix Jr. in his season debut there won’t be nearly as much grace given as there would’ve been if he would’ve played in week one or week two.
