Arthur Blank has a franchise-changing decision on his hands

The Atlanta Falcons lost a game they could not afford to lose on Sunday. A 9-7 final where the defense allowed zero touchdowns in the driving rain somehow still resulted in defeat for the Falcons. Quarterback Desmond Ridder threw another game-wrecking interception that allowed Carolina to burn the final 7:30 of the game on a 90-yard drive. Questions about the job status of the head coach and quarterback are now on the forefront of fans and media’s minds alike.

The biggest question is what is owner Arthur Blank is thinking. Does he cut bait on a regime that showed early promise but has faded this season? Or does he give more slack to the coach and his staff? It remains to be seen after reports that Coach Smith is safe for 2024 barring “a collapse”.
