Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith joined Dukes & Bell for his weekly appearance on the show and talked about the growth he’s seen from Desmond Ridder from his first start to his second one for the Falcons.
When asked about what he’s seen from Ridder in his first two starts.
“I thought he took a big jump from Game 1, we put him in by circumstance and where he’s at and we feel really good about him,” Smith said. “He’s had two really great tests for any quarterback, and certainly a rookie to go down to New Orleans and then go to Baltimore on the road against two really good defenses. I thought he made a big leap from his first start to second one, certainly saw him drop back more.”
Smith talked about why the team is excited about Ridder.
“I don’t think a lot of people realize, especially going into the fourth quarter, how bad that wind was and I thought he made some really good throws going into there," said Smith. "The one he had on the sideline to Byrd on that bench route and then the big one he had to Drake, I thought he showed a lot of improvement. Obviously the next couple of weeks will be big for him and we’re excited about him.”
