The NFL has more parity than any league in America. On average there are six new teams that make the playoffs every year. A team going from worst to first is common. See the Cincinnati Bengals, who went from being a two win team in 2019 to playing in a Super Bowl in 2022. The Atlanta Falcons did not finish last in their division last year, but they have the potential to make one of giant steps forward that we've seen from others.
On Saturday, Chris Thomas shared his thoughts on the direction the Atlanta Falcons are heading and even went as far as to say, "The Falcons will be the most improved team in the NFL."
"The Atlanta Falcons will win the NFC South. The Atlanta Falcons will win a playoff game this season." Thomas went on to say. One of the most important pieces to the Falcons' success next year will be the play of first-year starter Desmond Ridder. However, The Falcons just need Ridder to manage the game. "They're not asking him to be a star."
He pointed to the improved offensive line that drafted Matthew Bergeron in the second round of the draft. Between a slew of big body pass-catchers and a running game that should be one of the best in the league, the Falcons offense will be a force that wears down opposing defenses all season.
Under Arthur Smith's leadership the Atlanta Falcons have exceeded expectations every year of his tenure. A division title and playoff victory would certainly keep that trend going.
