Can Kirk Cousins rise up to playoff expectations in Atlanta?

The Atlanta Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million deal with $100 million guaranteed. A deal that will pay Cousins close to $45 per year for the first two years of the deal. With that much cash, comes even more responsibility and expectations. None of this is new to Cousins, who has been the face of the franchise for two separate teams already in his career, but the postseason results did not always follow the payday.

Chris Thomas shared his thoughts on "The Other Side of the Glass" detailing what the expectations are for the Falcons and if Kirk Cousins is the right guy to lead them to those lofty goals.

Kirk Cousins will enter his 13th season in the NFL with a 1-4 playoff record. Chris Thomas believes that Cousins could double his playoff wins this season with a win after the Falcons presumably clench the NFC South. Cousins will certainly have the offensive cast to get the job done.

Leaving behind Justin Jefferson is a nightmare for a QB, but gaining Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson is a nice consolation prize. The questions will be can the defense hold up their end of the bargain as the season moves into December and January.

In his five playoff games, Kirk Cousins has a passer rating of 93.7 averages 209.4 passing yards per game, with 5 touchdowns and 1 interception. An improvement will be needed if he is to get the Falcons to a Super Bowl for the first time since 2016, and more importantly stave off the pending career of #8 overall pick, Michael Penix Jr.
