This is the time of year when everyone wants to believe that their NFL teams are going to be special. No games are played but the schedule release is as exciting as games played. NFL fans finally get to see where they are playing and when they are playing. The dates in which they can build their day around and the dates of revenge for their teams. So, I am here to speak and speak loudly about what the Atlanta Falcons will do this upcoming year now that the schedule is out.
Week 1- I do not trust Nick Sirianni and if his 1st press conference is anything like how his team will play (remember he played rock, paper, scissors with his potential draft picks) Enough said
DUB 1-0
Week 2-At Tampa, the Champs, TB12, and the Bucs have resigned everyone and their mamas. They look at the Falcons and take them lightly, with a new staff, new players, new scheme. Kyle Pitts has 2 TD and 150 yards.
DUB 2-0
Week 3- At NY Giants the NFC East is going to be “feasting time” this season, starting with the Giants. Even with Saquon Barkley back, Daniel Jones cannot handle the blitzes being thrown at him and throws 2 picks and is sacked 3 times and pressured all day.
DUB 3-0
Week 4-The Washington Football Team comes to the ATL in week 4. They are a mess and don’t’ have a QB. This is the 5 consecutive year they start with a new QB. This year it is Ryan Fitzpatrick. Yep, that Ryan Fitzpatrick. He is a gunslinger and will throw it to the good guys. New Falcons Safety Richie Grant has a pick along with AJ Terrell. Mistakes always kill Fitz; he has always turned it over which is why he has played for every team in the league. (Well almost every team)
DUB 4-0 you heard me!
Week 5- London here we come! Travel, time change, Rookie QB Zach Wilson tries to force things that are not there and makes mistakes, instead of throwing it away. He will try to do too much. It will cost his team and the Falcons will win.
DUB 5-0
Week 6 -Bye week
Week 7- Hello Tua and the Dolphins! This is a young and up and coming team that is well coached, and they have drafted the right way. The Falcons get caught slipping coming out of the bye week and feeling good about themselves. 1st L of the season.
5-1 after 7 weeks
Week 8- Here comes Joe Brady and the Carolina Panthers. Why would I believe that they would be able to score with us, when they don’t’ practice Red Zone offense and the 2 min drill according to former QB Teddy Bridgewater. The Falcons pick up their first division win.
DUB 6-1
Week 9- Anybody got any crab legs! Here comes Jameis and those stinking Saints. Prone to turnovers Jameis blows the game after having his team up on the road. After the game Sean Payton is non-committal about who will be his starting QB the next week. Meanwhile Taysom Hill is seen eating crab legs while watching the Payton presser in the locker room.
DUB 7-1
Week 10- It does not get any bigger than the scene of the crime in 2020. Flashback to an onside kick and 4 drives of 70 plus yards given up by the defense that allowed the Cowboys to win in unbelievable come back fashion. This year former Falcons HC Dan Quinn is the new DC for the Cowboys. Matt Ryan does not get to go over the top vs DQ’s cover 3. But Ryan and Falcons avenge the lost that hurt the most last season and get revenge on the Cowboys. The Run game comes alive and Mike Davis shines in this one.
DUB 8-1
Week 11- Under the lights Thursday Night Football vs New England. They have our number, do not ask me why just shut up and go with it. Even though the QB has changed, the Coach remains, and he lives in a space in our heads. Just shut up!
8-2 after 11 Weeks
Week 12- Let us take a trip to Jacksonville. The question for me is will Tim Tebow be on the team? Really who cares! That is a side show for what is supposed to be the next great QB in the NFL and that man is Trevor Lawrence. At this point in the season, he is no longer a Rookie with 10 weeks under his belt. But this is the NFL and the best player in the draft went to a bad team, they are not good enough yet. They will win some games; this will not be one of them. Falcons shine in the sunshine state!
DUB 9-2
Week 13- It is payback time for week two and the World Champs who have hit their stride and are looking good at this point in the season get it. Brady throws 3 TD’s, and the Falcons fall short.
L 9-3
Week 14- Another Division game against Carolina. If the Falcons are going to sweep any team in this division, it is Carolina. Let Mike Davis’s cook! Davis destroys his old team for 100+ yards and scores twice. Remember he told us it is personal!
DUB 10-3
Week 15- West Side! In my Ice cube voice. Kyle Shanahan has all his pieces back on the defensive side of the football and his young QB is learning on the job. The 49ers are still a force in the NFC West with one of the best defenses in the NFL and they hand the Falcons a late Sunday afternoon loss in California.
L 10-4
Week 16- The Lions suck and the Falcons get right. Merry Christmas Falcon fans! Dec 26th, we collect our 11th win of the season.
DUB 11-4
Week 17- Going to Buffalo is always hard. It is harder in January. After celebrating the new year and bringing in 2022, the Falcons cannot handle the cold or the Bills. The Bills will win the AFC East and are on their way back to the play-offs again. L
L 11-5
Week 18- Finally the last game of the season and it matters. Playing at New Orleans could mean a home game in the play-offs for the Falcons. The week before it was cold and outside. This week it is 70 degrees and perfect inside that other dome not named Mercedes Benz anymore. Not making fun just stating facts. Okay maybe a little fun! The Saints have had 4 years of making the play-offs and were not able to win the big game despite having Marcus Davenport! (insert my laugh here) The Falcons not only beat the Saints but secure a 1st round home game under 1st year head coach Arthur Smith!
