When every NFL season starts, 32 teams are beginning their quest to win a Super Bowl. After Sunday night, only the Philadelphia Eagles can claim that throne. This leaves the other 31 teams scrambling to identify what separates them from the pinnacle of the NFL.
The Steakhouse discussed how far the gap is between what we have in Atlanta on the Falcons to what we saw on display throughout the NFL playoffs in Philadelphia.
"Why are we comparing ourselves to the Philadelphia Eagles?" Steak asked Drew on Monday morning. "Everybody in the NFL is going to fall short when they compare to the Eagles... [they've played in] three of the last eight Super Bowls."
The Eagles, with their elite defensive line play and deep arsenal of weapons on offense, are the class of the NFL. They looked like an unstoppable force as they denied the Kansas City Chiefs their shot at history.
Yes, the Falcons beat this team during the regular season, but any comparisons between the two teams looked laughable in the second half of the season.
"[The Falcons] should be comparing ourselves to the New Orleans Saints or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in our division," Steak said. "Why are they winning [the last eight] consecutive division titles? Why do they have a Super Bowl and we don't have a Super Bowl?"
A reality in Atlanta is that we can't claim a single title in the last sixty years. The natural thought would be to see where you stand in regards to the team at the top, but the Falcons have to find their way to the top of the NFC South first.
"We can't even win our division!" Steak finished. "Let's start with that!"
