As the 2025 NFL Draft gets closer certain prospects start to get tied to certain teams, and with the Atlanta Falcons having a big need for a pass rusher guys like Mike Green, Mykel Williams, Shemar Stewart and James Pearce Jr. have all been tied to the Falcons.
Earlier today on The Morning Shift, Owner of Football Gameplan, College Football and NFL Draft Analyst, NFL Analyst, and Host on CBS Sports HQ Emory Hunt joined the show and Mike Johnson asked him who he thinks the Falcons should draft with the 15th overall pick between Mike Green, Mykel Williams, Shemar Stewart and James Pearce Jr., and Emory explained why he thinks the Falcons should draft the Tennessee edge rusher James Pearce Jr. at 15.
“James Pearce, long, athletic, smooth, can drop back in coverage and turn the ball over, you know that gives you so much flexibility on your defense, and when you have someone that can not only get better as a pass rusher, but also has the ability to drop back in that short zone and carry running backs down the sideline or carry tight ends up the seam and has the wherewithal to catch the football like that’s kinda like what you want out there on defense, so I would say James Pearce.” Hunt said
Emory finished by talking about how he thinks James Pearce’s skillset will make him a better and more productive pro in the NFL than he was college player.
“James Pearce has the versatility and the crossover ability to be a problem as a pro more so than he was at Tennessee.”
A versatile defensive player is a player that every teams covets for their defense, and the Falcons are no different, so if it’s believed that James Pearce Jr. can be a guy who can not only sack the quarterback, but also cover running backs and tight ends he would be very useful on the Falcons’ defense and worth the 15th overall pick.
