Julio Jones has been traded to the Tennessee Titans.

The Atlanta Falcons are sending the All-Pro veteran wide receiver and a pick to the Tennessee Titans for two picks and some financial considerations.

In exchange the Falcons will receive a 2022 second-round and 2023 fourth-round draft picks. The Titans also receive Atlanta’s 2023 sixth-round selection, the Falcons confirmed.

Ian Rapoport reported some of the financials behind the deal:

Jones, 32, has been on the trading block throughout the offseason, but talks began to intensify around the draft and after the Falcons selected tight end Kyle Pitts with their first-round pick.

A post-June 1 trade made much more sense for the Falcons as it allows them to save $15.3 million in cap space.

Jones has been one of the best wide receivers in football over the last 10 years, although some worry he may be on the decline as he played in just nine games last season.

Yet, he was still productive, hauling in 51 catches for 771 yads and three touchdowns in those games.

The Titans have long been rumored as one of the potential landing spots for Jones. The addition of Jones is a boost to the Titans offense, which lost Corey Davis to free agency.

Jones joins a receiving corps opposite A.J. Brown and with Derrick Henry in the backfield the Titans have plenty of weapons for quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

The Falcons, meanwhile, appear to be in rebuild mode with a new head coach and GM at the helm and trading Jones for a second-round pick gives them the cap room and assets to continue to build for the future.
