On The Steakhouse Wednesday morning, with Mark Zinno sitting in for Steak Shapiro, he and Sandra Golden shared their thoughts on the Atlanta Falcons and the trade they made to bring in wide receiver Van Jefferson. During the discussion, Golden brought up the fact that some people have already been questioning the ability of Atlanta head coach Arthur Smith, coming up with ways to get some of the team’s key players more touches. Now with bringing Jefferson into the fold, could that complicate things?
“Look, you got the double whammy from Arthur this past weekend. You got Desmond for 300 and you got Kyle Pitts for 11 targets and seven catches,” Zinno told Golden explaining how those were two areas of complaints by many Falcons fans and now it will be important for Atlanta to go out and repeat the task again. However, more importantly, Zinno told Golden that he believes the Falcons now have to “go out and win three more very winnable games and sweep the month of October."
As the conversation between the two continued, Zinno explained that he believes the month of September is “fools gold” when it comes down to the NFL and that during that month most teams are not their true selves. However the month of October is the time in which teams start to “position themselves and if the Falcons want to position themselves to be a playoff team,” wins over the Commanders, Titans, and Buccaneers would be must-have and should they win the month of October and “end up 6-2 after eight games, you’re in great position for big-boy football in November and December."
