“The most impressive thing that I saw from the defense was a level of aggressiveness in the way that they play, and that makes total sense because Ryan Nielsen is now their defensive coordinator and that’s one of his big mantras.”
Ryan continues by saying “The thing that impressed me the most from a defensive perspective is the secondary gets their hands on the ball a lot, knocking the ball down, making picks, getting in the receivers face, and part of that is because of the defensive line is kind of forcing errant passes.”
The old saying that still stands true in the game of football is that a good pass rush helps out the secondary, and a good secondary helps out the pass rush, and fortunately for the Falcons they should have both this season.
Last year the Falcons had 10 interceptions, forced seven fumbles, and deflected 69 passes, and with a revamped secondary and defensive line, all of those numbers should increase which should lead to a better turnover margin, which should lead to a lot more wins.
