Kyle Pitts hasn’t had the season Falcons fans were expecting, and with that brings a lot of disgruntled Falcons fans. However, earlier today The Morning Shift broke down why Falcons fans have to stop complaining about Kyle Pitts’ usage, the way he is used, why nothing about Kyle Pitts’ usage is going to change, and why nothing should change about his usage.
Also, if you look at Kyle Pitts’ numbers he is second on the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards only to Drake London, so it’s not like he’s not being targeted or not catching the ball, and of course you would like his touchdown numbers to be up, but rookie running back Bijan Robinson leads the team in receiving touchdowns with three, so it’s not as if Kyle Pitts is the only Falcons pass catcher with a low number of receiving touchdowns.
During his press conference on Monday Head Coach Arthur Smith also pointed out something very important, and that’s the fact that Kyle is still “building to come back”. Whether it’s because he doesn’t fully trust his knee or he’s still somewhat recovering, it’s been pretty clear all season long that Kyle Pitts hasn’t had that final gear this season since tearing his MCL last season.
Also, at the end of the day the Falcons are a team that wants to control the game using the run, and favor the running game more than the passing game, so that will affect his numbers as well. With all that being said if the Falcons can find a way to string some more wins together I'm sure Falcons fans will stop complaining about Kyle Pitts’ usage.
