The Atlanta Falcons have found their way through some early-season struggles and have emerged from a difficult four-game slate at .500. Despite the success on the scoreboard, The Steakhouse wants to see this team show more pop on offense and make things more difficult on defense.
"Kirk Cousins [has] four touchdowns and four interceptions. The worst numbers in his NFL career since his second year," Steak Shapiro said on Wednesday morning. "The anemic offense is 29th in touchdowns."
The Falcons, through four games, find themselves at 19th in the NFL in yards per game (309.3 YPG), 17th in passing yards per game (206.5), 22nd in rushing yards per game (102.8), 22nd in scoring (18.8), and second to last in average time of possession (24:31).
That's just not good enough for a team hoping to make the playoffs.
The defense, on the other hand, is showing that it is a legitimate unit in the NFL. Yet the pass rush has still struggled to reach home (four sacks, last in the NFL) and they have struggled to force turnovers (four takeaways, 21st in the NFL).
"To be 2-2, we're still able to have hope," Sandra replied to Steak confidently. "When you're 29th in the league in offense [and still finding ways to win]."
Steak wants to see improvement sooner rather than later if he's going to buy in to what this team could do down the stretch.
"If you're going to feel good about the long-term -- and I'm talking long-term, 17 games and go to the playoffs and make a run," he said. "You better start seeing something tomorrow night against Tampa Bay. You have two drives on the year that have been significant -- the last drive against Philadelphia and the first drive against [Kansas City]."
