Falcons players are taking on identity of Arthur Smith

Dave Archer explains how Falcons players are emulating their head coach

Arthur Smith is a head coach now, but came up as a gritty tough nose offensive lineman. Now his players are taking on the identity of their coach, and that’s great news for Falcons fans.

Dave Archer joined The Morning Shift earlier today and explained why even though guys like Kyle Pitts, Drake London, Cordarrelle Patterson, and now Bijan Robinson are players capable of making explosive plays, the foundation of this team are “mashers” just like their head coach.

“Yea I think there’s some glitz there that maybe just people aren’t paying attention to, but they kind of mirror their coach. You guys have talked to Arthur Smith, he’s not a hand shaker or a baby kisser, he wants to come off the ball and mash people. He wants to shorten necks for a living.”

Dave continued by saying “That’s what they did a year ago, they ran the ball to a tune of 159 yards per game, third in the league, but they want to add some more elements to that, that’s why Bijan Robinson is here, that’s why Jonnu Smith is here, that’s why you're excited about Kyle Pitts being back on the field.”

Kyle Pitts, Jonnu Smith, and Bijan Robinson will definitely help the Falcons become more explosive, but the heart of their team is still smashmouth football, controlling the line of scrimmage, and dominating their opponent physically, just like Coach Smith wants to do.
