The Atlanta Falcons made several roster moves on Tuesday including signing quarterback Josh Rosen.
The Falcons placed QB A.J. McCarron on the Reserve/Injured list after suffering a season-ending ACL injury in Saturday's second preseason game.
Per the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, all teams needed to reduce their rosters down to 80 players by 4:00pm ET today.
In lieu of that, the Falcons cut one player many fans may be surprised to learn: running back Javian Hawkins.
Hawkins, an undrafted free agent out of Louisville, was a player many though had a chance to make the final 53-man roster and had started to become somewhat of a fan favorite in the preseason.
It appears Caleb Huntley has looked better throughout the preseason, at least to the Falcons coaching staff. Mike Davis, Cordarrelle Patterson, Qadree Ollison, D'Onta Foreman and fullback Keith Smith will likely round out the Falcons backfield once the final roster is determined.
The team also cut OLB Shareef Miller, DL Olice Sagapolu, WR Austin Trammell and OL Willie Wright.
