Former Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley joined Dukes & Bell Monday to and talked about his time in Atlanta and why his playing time decreased during the 2021 season with the Falcons?

When asked if his body kept him limited late in the season.

“Nah, just got benched, plain and simple, that’s just what it was. But then also something that I realized, the guys that brought me over wasn’t there anymore, you know what I mean? As far as [head coach Dan Quinn] Q and Thomas [Dimitroff] so,” Gurley said. “But it just kinda went by so fast too man. I mean we kinda let a lot of those games slip away from us, like the first five weeks and I don’t know when they got let go but they were pretty much gone I think like week 5 or week 6.”

Gurley rushed for 422 yards on 99 carries between Weeks 1-6. From Weeks 7-11 he only had 45 carries, and over the last five weeks of the season he only rushed the ball 38 times.

Gurley talked about how he felt he was treated by team during his time with Falcons.

“They still did me well man, I mean I still had my good schedule and they still let me start off the game and at the end of the day we didn’t really run the ball no more anyway too so it was just all over the place that year man," Gurley said. "Yeah G-d damn Dirk Koetter, now that I think about it. I don’t really think about it that much. I’m more of a guy, just control what you can control and don’t make stuff bigger than what it is at the end of the day.”

Gurley talked about why he wanted to play in Atlanta.

“I wish I got an opportunity to play with Julio [Jones] a little bit more, but I had to come to Atlanta when the opportunity presented itself. I had to come see what it was about," Gurley said. "Obviously being able to play at Georgia, and come live in Atlanta, but you know with COVID wasn’t too many fans. I’ve told people all the time it don’t matter I could have been in Minnesota or Buffalo just far as starting the season wise we weren’t able to do much it was definitely a weird season but it was a blessing to me.”
