While the Atlanta Falcons dismissal of Arthur Smith on Monday has them in search for their next head coach, the quarterback position may still be the bigger question for the franchise as the team appears to not be settled on either Desmond Ridder or Taylor Heinicke. And while there has been no official word from the organization that they are also in search of a new quarterback, there has been speculation that the Falcons could very well look for another starting signal-caller.
On Wednesday, Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden got into a discussion and began to share their thoughts on what would be the more important area for the Falcons to address during this offseason for them to find success.
“You have the right quarterback, you set your franchise up for years,” Shapiro explained as he would agree with Golden that finding their next franchise quarterback would be more important to the success of the franchise.
Reflecting on Matt Ryan’s time as the Atlanta signal-caller, Shapiro notes that despite having played under former Falcons coaches Mike Smith and Dan Quinn, the team was able to find success due to the level of play by Ryan.
“The next coach's most important move is who his quarterback is because if you don’t have a quarterback, you don’t have a job. Ask Arthur Smith about that,” Shapiro added.
