Falcons make free agency moves 'that spoke to need'

As the Atlanta Falcons continue to gear up for the 2026 season with new president of football, Matt Ryan, new general manager, Ian Cunningham and new head coach, Kevin Stefanski, all in place to lead the franchise, the team continues to be at the center of discussions for their free agency signing of Tua Tagovailoa.

And while the Falcons have made several other free agent signings, none have been as notable as Tagovailoa, therefore leaving some to question how good the franchise will be this season, however on Wednesday, ESPN Falcons beat writer, Marc Raimondi joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell to explain why there is reason for optimism with the Atlanta signings.

“I really kind of like what they did in free agency,” Raimondi said of the Falcons moves. “There was nothing splashy at all outside of maybe Tua [Tagovailoa], but everything they did kind of spoke to need, spoke to death, spoke to value,” Raimondi said of the Falcons not overspending for their addition while addressing areas of need.

“I feel like this is very much an evaluation year for the Falcons. Bring a lot of guys in, see who can do what, let’s see who on the current roster can do what and take it from there and while still attempt to be a competitive team in a division that is winnable every year,” Raimondi said.
