NFL Network’s Steve Wyche joined Dukes & Bell for his weekly appearance on the show. Steve talked about how impressive AJ Terrell has been this season and whether has he already become an elite cornerback in the NFL in only his second year?
When asked about how good Terrell has been so far this season.
“He’s good man. I live in Los Angeles and so I see a lot of Rams games and there’s no better defensive back in the game then Jalen Ramsey, right? Physical tackler, great open field tackler, great cover guy. But Terrell is trending that way,” Wyche said.
“In terms of the physicality, he gets hands on receivers at the line of scrimmage, not giving a lot of open space. Now he’s going to be challenged this week. Dallas has receivers and they’re gonna scheme him up. But I just don’t think they’re gonna throw it his way that often.”
Wyche talked about other ways Dean Pees can use Terrell on defense.

“That’s a sign of respect, especially for a second-year player, so he’s gonna have to do some of the little things to influence the defense, the physicality, things like that to where soon maybe Dean Pees starts trusting him to come off the edge with some blitzes, things like that so people have to pay a little bit more attention to him and to try to test him a little bit more. But he is trending very rapidly to becoming one of the elite DB’s in the NFL.”
