With the 2024 NFL Draft set to get underway Thursday, what the Atlanta Falcons will do with the No. 8 pick will finally be answered.
For the past several weeks, NFL analysts have shared multiple mock drafts in which many of them have Atlanta selecting Alabama edge-rusher, Dallas Turner with their first-round pick. However within the last week, several mocks have featured scenarios with the Falcons taking UCLA’s Laiatu Latu. Still others have the Falcons trading back with the likes of Minnesota, and a few going as far as Brock Bowers being selected with the eighth pick.
Former Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs quarterback DJ Shockley joined The Morning Shift to share his thoughts on the draft in reference to the Falcons.
“I would stay where I’m at because I think you have an opportunity right there at eight to do whatever you want to do,” Shockley said in response to Beau Morgan, explaining that he does believe that there are a few trade possibilities where Atlanta could move back to add more draft picks. However, he believes their current draft position is a good spot for them, especially if they do not value trade offers enough for the move.
“You stay there, you get the guy you want and for me it’s has to be that edge-rusher,” Shockley said, adding that he is “all on board” with the Falcons selecting Turner with the eighth overall pick.
