As the debate continues of who the Falcons next quarterback should be, we continue to hear more perspectives from insiders, analysts, and former players. Earlier Thursday The Morning Shift gathered even more insight and analysis on who the Falcons next signal-caller should be from NFL Network analyst and former Vice President of Player Evaluation for the New York Giants Marc Ross. He explained why he thinks Justin Fields is a "better option" for the Falcons over Kirk Cousins.
“When I just compare the two again you know Plan A, Plan B, I would say Justin Fields is the better option for Atlanta," said Ross. "You got a younger guy with supreme playmaking ability, put him with Bijan (Robinson), and Kyle Pitts, and Drake London, so you put him with those guys and you’re like wow we’ve got some dynamic players.
"Kirk like you said, you know what Kirk is, and you kind of know what Kirk is going to give you even at his best. Which other teams haven’t gone where they need to go with Kirk and older guy coming off the injury it's just a lot more risk with Kirk and a lot more certainty. To say yeah well this is exactly what he’s going to be and that might not be good enough, so if I was down there, If I was on the team, I would definitely prioritize Justin, and he won’t be as expensive.”
Ross obviously, just like most people, sees the potential Justin Fields has, and believes that potential can pay off for the Falcons if Fields continues to improve his ability as a passer, but the Falcons will continue to weigh all of their options and will make their own choice when the time is right.
