Run the ball, stop the run, score more touchdowns when you get in the red zone, and sack the quarterback. Those are all things the Atlanta Falcons need to do to give themselves the best chance to beat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. However, it isn’t the most important thing, but earlier today The Morning Shift told you what the most important thing the Falcons need to do to beat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday is.

“You can’t let them hang around. If you have an opportunity early in this game to put your foot on their throat you better do it with full force. Do not let a team like Carolina hang around.” Beau Morgan said.

Beau was saying that’s what former Atlanta Falcons quarterback and now Atlanta Falcons Radio Network Analyst Dave Archer is always telling him about games like this, and Dave actually joined the show later on and talked about not disrespecting the Panthers when the guys asked him what the Falcons have to do to beat the Panthers on Sunday.

“The number one thing is don’t disrespect these guys. This is a National Football League team. I think everybody that’s on the periphery that hasn’t lined up and played these games looks at it and says well this is a bad team, so this should be a blowout, you’re gonna roll over these guys. As soon as you disrespect them and don’t give them the credit they deserve of being one of 32 teams in the National Football League you’re gonna get your ass handed to you on Sunday. You have to go in there and treat them with the respect that they deserve, and then go down and take the football game from them. I think that’s number one.”

You hear the saying all the time “it’s any given Sunday” in the NFL, and if the Falcons go into Carolina and underestimate the Panthers they’ll be in for a rude awakening Sunday afternoon.
