DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a one-year deal with Falcons free-agent safety Damontae Kazee, according to 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher.
Kazee, 27, was one of three safeties the Cowboys brought to The Star in Frisco on Wednesday for a meeting and a medical check. His singing reunites him with his Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who was Atlanta's former head coach.
Dallas already agreed to a one-year deal with former Lions safety Jayron Kearse on Wednesday. The other player Dallas brought in was Colts safety Malik Hooker.
Kazee becomes the third safety the Cowboys have signed this offseason as they also agreed to a deal with former Falcon Keanu Neal a few days ago. However, Neal is expected to play a hybrid safety/linebacker role in Quinn's defensive scheme.
Kazee's signing will likely end the Cowboys' pursuit of Hooker, who was a former 15th overall pick in the 2017 draft. Free safety Xavier Woods remains a free agent, though they'll likely turn the page on him as well. Dallas still has Donovan Wilson to potentially start at strong safety.
Kazee, a former fifth-round pick by the Falcons in 2017, suffered a torn Achilles in Week 4 last season. It's unknown if he'll be ready to go when training camp begins this summer. He had 10 interceptions and five forced fumbles in his four years in Atlanta.
