Restructuring Deion Jones' contract makes it more likely that he will be traded

It was a mild surprise when Falcons Linebacker Deion Jones participated in the final preseason game for the team and was placed on the IR shortly thereafter. He'd been an afterthought in the leadup to Week 1, but some news Tuesday had people talking about him again.

Deion Jones restructured his deal, and without going into the finite details, his cap hit was dropped from a team-high $20 Million to just $13.2 Million, and 92.9 The Game Falcons Reporter Joe Patrick thinks that could be a precursor to moving him elsewhere.

"I think it makes it more appealing to other teams to now come in and try to trade for him, that is the main reason this deal was restructured the way it was," says Joe Patrick. "Falcons were going to have a tough time trying to offload Deion Jones, so lowering that cap hit makes it much more appealing."

Another reason Joe Patrick points to in regards to the team trying to move Deion Jones is that he doesn't feel he would see any play0time with the Falcons when he's eligible to return from the IR.

"I still do not see a spot for him on this Falcons team as it stands, so Falcons are very much looking in trying to trade him before the deadline hits."
