Desmond Ridder was checked for a concussion during the Falcons loss to the Titans in Week 8, and despite being medically cleared, he was benched to start the second half as backup QB Taylor Heinicke finished out the game. The offense looked a lot better with Heinicke taking snaps, but even though they was a noticeable difference, Andy and Randy don't think Heinicke will be given the ball to start the game in Week 9.
While Arthur Smith wasn't definitive after the game, if anything he was quite cryptic and secretive about his mindset and decision moving forward, it does seem like it would be an odd decision to make at this time considering the patience they have consistently shown Ridder to this point in the season.
