Influx of new talent makes picking Falcons' best offensive group a challenge

Vets and rookies give this team more offensive punch

Definitely not in Arthur Smith's first year. Maybe not in Smith's second year. However, this year there's a noticeable change and you can argue for it - the Falcons have made huge upgrades at all of the offensive skill positions. And it's difficult not to even say which group stands out as the best on offense.

This is what they call one of those "good problems."

The first round of the last three drafts have seen the Falcons make Kyle Pitts the highest-selected tight end in NFL history at No. 4, draft receiver Drake London at No. 8, and take running back Bijan Robinson at No. 8.

Bijan joins a running back room with last year's 1,000-yard rusher Tyler Allgeier, and veteran Cordarrelle Patterson. The Falcons brought in free agent tight end Jonnu Smith and his 17 career touchdown catches to pair along with Pitts. And the wide receiver room has several new faces in Mack Hollins, Slade Bolden, and Scotty Miller.

There's a new influx of talent in each group.

The Morning Shift's Mike Johnson joined The Steakhouse Wednesday morning to break down his observations of the offensive skill position groups from Tuesday's OTA session. He expressed the same sentiment about how this team has added quality all around.

"When you bring in a Mack Hollins, or a Scotty Miller, they have different perspectives, and you can bring that into a film room," Mike told John Fricke and Drew Butler this morning. "You do get that feeling that every one of these rooms has that veteran presence, but also that young athletic ability and that hunger that you want to see in different situations."
