On Wednesday, Atlanta Falcons general manager, Terry Fontenot held his pre-draft press conference and as expected, gave no indication as to how the team will draft on Thursday. And while Fontenot’s overall elusive response to questions he addressed when speaking with the media were not surprising, 92-9 The Game Carl Dukes and Mike Bell shared their thoughts on concerns they have about the Falcons drafting, particularly in regards to the defense.

“How much input is anybody going to have when it comes to these defensive picks,” Dukes said as he reacted to Fontenot’s lack of insight on how much input new defensive coordinator, Jeff Ulbrich, will have in defensive players the team will select. “This is one where let the guys that are going to make the stew pick the groceries,” Bell said in response as he shared his thoughts on why he believes Ulbrich needs to be involved, should the Falcons be drafting for defensive needs.

“I didn’t get the sense that that is how it may work,” Dukes said in response to Bell’s comments, noting he was hoped to hear Fontenot respond by saying “look we hired Ulbrich, he’s got great experience and we trust the players he really likes and we’re going to give him an opportunity to bring in the guys he wants to bring in,” Dukes said, sharing he why he believes the team should have a sense of urgency to get the pick right. “You have to get this right,” Dukes added.
