The 2025 NFL Draft is a week away from tomorrow, and at this point Atlanta Falcons fans somewhat know the direction the Falcons are going to go in. Edge rusher, interior defensive lineman, cornerback, safety, and maybe an offensive tackle as well.
However, there is a position that the Falcons could draft, and probably should consider drafting that may catch Falcons fans off guard, but if you listen to what The Morning Shift had to say earlier today then you’ll be ready for what could be coming during the draft next week.
Younghoe had an uncharacteristic season in 2024, making 25 of his 34 field goal attempts and posting his lowest conversion rate (73.5%) since joining Atlanta in 2019. He missed a career-high three kicks in the Falcons' Week 10 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Lenny Krieg, who the Falcons signed on a three-year deal earlier this offseason has some promise, but when he played for the EFL's Stuttgart Surge in 2025 he only converted 11 of his 16 field goals (68.8%), so there’s no guarantee that the Falcons see him as the long term answer at kicker either.
There’s a very good chance the Falcons just end up using one of their seventh round picks to draft a kicker to at least give Koo some competition in training camp, and potentially even be the long-term answer at kick for the Falcons, so consider this your warning that the Falcons might draft a kicker in this year’s draft, and should probably seriously consider it.
