Draft week is finally here, and speculation continues about what the Atlanta Falcons are going to do with the number eight overall pick. Earlier today The Morning Shift reacted to NFL Network Draft Analyst Daniel Jeremiah talk about why the Falcons should be open to trading back in the draft, and discussed whether or not trading back is the best option for the Falcons.

Beau, Mike, and Tiffany point out that one the Falcons would need a trade partner who wants to move up, two need a trade partner who wants to move up and is giving the Falcons a deal that makes it worth it for them to move down. In the tweet below you can hear Daniel Jerimiah talk about how he believes Dallas Turner hasn’t separated himself from the other edge rushers in the draft in Laitu Latu, Jared Verse, and Chop Robinson. However, Beau disagrees with that sentiment.

“When he mentions Chop Robinson and Dallas Turner in the same sentence it bothered me because I love Chop Robinson’s athleticism and his test results are unreal, but if a Falcons fan sits there and says that, and I can’t even believe Daniel Jerimiah said that, that Dallas Turner hasn’t separated himself from a Chop Robinson to me that is a ludicrous statement based on what they did in college Dallas Turner tested better, and played better, and performed better, and had more impact plays in one season than Chop Robinson’s had in his entire career at Penn State.”

The Falcons may also want to stay at eight because there could be a draft night trade that causes a player to drop that they maybe Terry Fontenot, Raheem Morris, and the rest of the Falcons brass didn’t anticipate falling to them at eight, i.e. Rome Odunze, Malik Nabers, etc…

There is also a likely chance the Falcons will be able to pick whatever defensive player they want in the draft with the eighth overall pick, and that luxury may be too enticing for them to pass up, but If the Falcons do trade back that decision probably won’t be made until they’re on the clock Thursday night.
