The Atlanta Falcons will once again be tasked with stopping a quarterback making his first start of the season this Sunday. It has been announced that barring any setbacks in practice, Kyler Murray will be QB 1 in Arizona. Usually a quarterback making their first start means rust and regaining confidence under center, but the Falcons’ defensive lapses the past two weeks have shown that does not necessarily ring true.
Kyler Murray is a much more athletic signal caller than Josh Dobbs and Will Levis, the two starters that made plays in and outside the pocket and made a strong Falcons defense look lost at times. Murray also has a flare for the dramatic and has made several game-changing plays and even game-ending plays throughout his career.
The key to stopping Murray will be to sure up tackling and not allow him to break the pocket and run outside like Dobbs did on several key plays that won the game for the Vikings last weekend. Defensive ends and linebackers will need to be disciplined and stay in their rush lanes while Murray surveys the field.
