It has been quite the last month for the Atlanta Falcons, as they find themselves on the road in Las Vegas for Monday Night Football in a “win now” situation. What put them in this situation is the 4-game losing streak that they are currently on, but more so bad quarterback play from Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cousins has thrown 8 interceptions and zero touchdowns during this current losing streak, and fans are starting to call for Falcons 2024 first round draft pick Michael Penix.
The Falcons and Head Coach Raheem Morris seem pretty adamant about staying with Kirk Cousins at quarterback, as they probably should be, but if Cousins wants to stay in that favor, something needs to change fast. That change needs to happen on Monday Night on the prime time stage, as the Falcons square off against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football. If Kirk Cousins wants to get back in to the good graces of the Falcons coaching staff and national media, there is no better time than Monday Night Football. But what can Cousins do to get back in to the good graces of the already jaded from the past Falcons’ fan base? Look at what the Falcons fan base has gone through in the last 8 years after all.
Since 28-3, they’ve seen the Mariota, Heinicke, and Ridder experiments all fail, and many have lost faith in the team all together. Andy Bunker and Abe Gordon explore this a little bit deeper, as the cost of emotion for a fan base always tends to be pretty expensive.
