The Atlanta Falcons players and coaches reported to training camp on Tuesday and will hold their first official practice on Thursday.
One of the biggest question heading into the season is depth at running back. The Falcons currently have five running backs on their roster: Mike Davis, Cordarrelle Patterson, Quadree Ollison and the two rookies, Javian Hawkins and Caleb Huntley.
Only one of those guys has seen any kind of extended play as a leading back, and that's Mike Davis. Davis carried the majority of the load in Carolina when their star running back Christian McCaffrey went out with a season-ending injury.
Davis is expected to carry the majority of the load this season, but what are our realistic expectations for him?
"It's fun to be able to sleep in your own bed and go to training camp and play for your hometown team," Andy Bunker said. "It would also would be really fun if Mike Davis could be a bona fide number one running back for this offense this season."
"I think I've got three things that I would like from Mike Davis in order to call him that: 200 carries, plus; play in 15 plus games, don't miss a lot of time; and catch the ball out of the backfield consistently."
