On Wednesday Andy & Randy talked about whether or not the Atlanta Falcons should be buyers or sellers before the NFL trade deadline next Tuesday November 1st at 4pm and how much the result of this Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers impacts whether the Falcons are buyers or sellers.
The Falcons are lumped with several other teams in the NFC that have a 3-4 record including the following: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals & Chicago Bears.
If the Falcons were to beat the Panthers on Sunday, they would be sitting at 4-4 overall with a decent shot at the wild card. Is a win on Sunday what it would take for the Falcons to become buyers? The Falcons do have just over $9 Million in cap space to use if they did acquire someone via trade before Tuesday.
“It seems like doing something in the secondary would be pretty smart plus they got 9 million dollars. You brought this to my attention yesterday. The Falcons have the fourth most room under the cap right now of any team in the NFL which is pretty remarkable. Like that might actually be the headline of what Terry Fontenot has been able to do to get them in a position where they could make a trade if they wanted to make a trade by Tuesday, to get them that far underneath the salary cap…I don’t know but I would like to see them do it though,” Andy said.
“Greedy Williams.
We mentioned him yesterday. William Jackson, corner (cornerback) for the Commanders. Because I’m thinking if you are going to go trade deadline I’m looking more at the cornerback position…They (Falcons) are not in contention mode where a short term player will get you over the hump this year,” Randy replied.
“No rentals.” Andy added.
