An accomplished cornerback in the NFL is a top commodity. Why are there so many of them available this late into the offseason? Former Defensive POY's and Pro Bowlers are sitting on the sidelines as training camp approaches. Many teams need the position filled, including the Atlanta Falcons.
Two-time Super Bowl Champion Bryant McFadden joined Dukes & Bell Friday and explained why the likes of Patrick Peterson and Stephon Gilmore are without teams right now. McFadden cited the cost of bringing in a vet while most teams have filled out their roster as well as their inability to play special teams, something young backs must do to keep themselves on the team.
Still, the Falcons are currently counting on either Clark Phillips lll or Mike Hughes to fill the void at the second corner spot. Unless they decide to free up some cap space, it appears they're taking a risk with inexperience at a very important position.
